Anydata Limited is the company set up by Fred Youhanaie in 1988 for
carrying out freelance IT consulting work.
Professional bio: After obtaining a BSc in Computer Systems
Engineering in 1982 from University
of Warwick Fred started work as programmer at JET in Oxfordshire. The five year
stint at JET was then followed by a number of medium to long term
contract assignments at SCS,
Laurentian Milldon, BT Research
Laboratories, GPT,
British Gas Services,
JP Morgan, Sun Microsystems, Rabobank International, AT&T Communications (UK) and most recently
at University of Oxford.
As far as the types of assignments go, the 80's were focused on
programming (Fortran, C and SQL), while the 90's were mostly spent on
system integration and management (Sun/Solaris with bits of HPUX, AIX
and Linux.) As for this decade, so far HPC and Grid Computing have been
the main focus.
The work at Oxford consisted of two phases, initially as senior
systems manager for the Oxford
Supercomputing Centre and then as cluster/grid system manager for
the Oxford e-Science Centre. The
latter involved the development and deployment of Oxford's grid compute
resource for the National Grid Service.
